During the shorter holidays, Spotlight provide one day workshops for children from year 1 to 4. We have loads of fun singing, dancing and doing drama games and activities.

Please see below details of our next workshop.

Annual Show
Each year Spotlight Dance School puts on a Show on at (what was) Rudolf Steiner School theatre in Kings Langley. This offers a chance for all the pupils of Spotlight Dance School to perform for their families and show off the routines which they have learnt in their classes. The show has been extremely popular in previous years with both the children and parents alike. For many of the children this is their first taste of performing on stage and they get a real sense of the buzz and excitement of live theatre. Parents really enjoy watching their own children perform and also find it’s a good opportunity to see what goes on in the rest of the school.

We’re always very proud of what the children can produce for the show which has proved over the years to be a really fun and entertaining day for everyone involved.
Rainbow Awards
At the end of the summer term all of our pupils take part in Spotlight Dance School’s Rainbow Awards.

Each child performs a routine which they have been learning in class and are given a certificate along with a medal to mark their achievement. When pupils take part in their first Rainbow award they are given their medal on a red ribbon. The colours of the ribbons reflect the number of awards pupils have completed for each class, progressing from Red to Yellow, then Pink, Green etc. as pupils take part in subsequent awards each year
.
Once the students have received all the colours, they then start to gain trophys. It’s a lovely way of marking how long the students have been coming to Spotlight. Something we’re really proud of is how long so many of our students stay with us. Many of our teenagers have been attending lessons at Spotlight since they were 3 or 4. The record is held by a student who finally left us last year after taking part in 17 Rainbow Awards!

These awards are designed to motivate the pupils by giving them a target to work towards and offer positive encouragement for each child as they progress in their classes. Parents are welcome to watch their child’s performance.

The date for this year’s Rainbow Awards will be announced soon.

Singing Cabaret
We put on Singing cabarets every year to give all our singing students a chance to perform a solo song in front of a friendly and supportive audience. It is a lovely event which is enjoyed by students who feel a huge sense of achievement after their performance and parents who get to see the progress their child has been making in their lessons. It’s great for building the confidence of the students and developing their performance techniques.
Theatre School Show
At the end of each year the Youth Theatre perform in a fully staged musical production at a local theatre, which they will have worked on in sessions throughout the term. Previous productions include; Annie, Footloose, Legally Blonde, Seussical, Grease, High School Musical, Fame, and The Wiz.
